Real world loans to the unbanked and underbanked

In the press release shared with „Invezz“, Aella will use Creditcoin 2.0 to enable all of its credit transactions to be recorded on the blockchain, with the move also bringing closer the lender’s services to the unbanked and underbanked across the continent and other emerging markets.

The transparency of the blockchain means audited accounts and credit performance of Aella would be easy to access and verify real-time, boosting the confidence of investors in the ecosystem.

This has the potential to increase Aella’s chances of securing fresh capital, with the benefits trickling to those who cannot access financial services from legacy financial lenders.

Aella CEO Akin Jones commented on this:

We’re excited to be the first OpenFi partner to integrate with Creditcoin. By allowing potential investors to see how our business is performing in real-time, we’re confident that this will increase counterparty trust and, ultimately, help us raise capital too. For us, and millions of users across Africa, that means more and cheaper access to vital sources of credit"

Creditcoin founder Tae Oh said the integration will be critical in the push to offer a “fairer shot” at achieving financial stability to all the unbanked. Africa has one of the largest population of the unbanked and underbanked.

According to the press announcement, more than 28,000 real-world credit transactions worth over $1.8 million have been recorded on the blockchain network.
