Coinbase, a leading crypto exchange in the U.S, has made the announcement that it is finally releasing its much-awaited NFT marketplace.
The company revealed in its blog post that the exchange will function from today onwards, allowing beta testers to build a Coinbase NFT profile for buying, selling, and trading NFTs minted on Ethereum(ETH) using a crypto wallet.
In the blog post, the company mentions that it’s their first step towards launching their beta. Further, the blog post informs that the first version of Coinbase NFT can be checked at nft.coinbase.com, and look at the various collections of NFTs on the Ethereum Blockchain.
But the crypto exchange also pointed out that individuals who signed up previously for the waitlist are eligible to be beta testers instead of only observers.
The blog post mentions that first, it will be conducting an experiment on a bunch of beta testers who will get the invitation based on their position on our waitlist. Further, the company asks them to create profiles, buy and sell on Coinbase NFT accessible to everyone.
“Curate your profile and connect.
You can create a profile that represents you by curating it with the NFTs that tell your story. Connect any self-custody wallet to select the NFTs you want to highlight or hide on your profile.”
The top crypto exchange also informs that there will be no transaction fees for those testing the NFT beta of Coinbase for a limited period, though.
The company says it will add fees per the Web 3.0 industry standards and promises to give notice before things change.
Brian Armstrong, CEO of Coinbase last November shared his vision of how he imagined the NFT to be hinting towards an Instagram-like user interface.
The CEO said that the Coinbase NFT is going to be more like Instagram rather than an auction like eBay.
Armstrong thinks that having a feed that is filled with people who you like or are inspired by is quite powerful to have.
Besides, he says that anyone can go and buy an NFT if they like and display it on their own social profile.
